On a very hot day last week, I captured some images of Abbie and four of her horses. As it was such a hot day, we had to speed through each horse before they were too targeted by the nearby flies. We set off in the ponies' turnout paddock, a beautiful orchard full of apple trees, which made for the perfect setting in our shoot, and some well-behaved models who were very at ease with their surroundings.
We started off with the gorgeous Chelsea, a chestnut mare who seemed an absolute pro at modelling. With ears pricked in every setup, she was an absolute delight to photograph.
Next, we moved onto Kelloggs (or 'Oggy'), Abbie's other beautiful chestnut mare. It was amazing to see such an incredible friendship between them, a bond spanning through many years of fun companionship. I was very honoured to have had the opportunity to capture such deep love through my lens.
After finishing with Kelloggs, we moved onto the last two ponies - Shrek (black gelding) and Blue (grey mare). Due to the heat we really didn't want to keep these ponies stood naked for too long so we placed them together and they behaved very well, resulting in some lovely captures showing their respect and affection for Abbie.
Finally, we finished off by bringing Kelloggs back into frame to get some lovely photos of the three ponies and their Mum. They were all very happy to stand with one another whilst we composed the perfect final images.
Thank you so much to Abbie and her gorgeous horses for letting me capture these lovely moments. It was a pleasure and a privilege ☺︎
